Yang Bo was born in 1991 in China’s Hubei province. He moved to Miyagi prefecture in 2001, and is currently based in Tokyo. His work centers on popular culture, represented primarily through movies and music, and the sense of distance associated with its reception. Yang constructs the unique world of his work by interweaving landscapes from his daily life with portraits of people or occurrences that, despite their remote existence, are experienced in a highly intimate, psychological manner.

His recent solo exhibitions include, “Take me to the river” (Yutaka Kikutake Gallery, Tokyo, 2026),  “Zamio versus Souvenir-man and the Defending Champion, part 124” (Ginza Tsutaya Books, Tokyo, 2024), “Love Me Two Times” (colloquium, Miyagi, 2023), “ (Remember Mama Said) You Can’t Hurry Love” (Yutaka Kikutake Gallery, Tokyo, 2022), “no tears” (NADiff a/p/a/r/t, Tokyo, 2021), with selected group exhibitions such as “Migration of Black Sheep” (Empathy Gallery, Tokyo, 2024), “Between” (Yutaka Kikutake Gallery, Tokyo, 2023), and “Lines of Innervision” (ANA InterContinental, Tokyo, 2023).

His works are in the collections of the Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art.
