Yutaka Kikutake Gallery is pleased to present Yuya Hashizume’s solo exhibition To my dearest friends from August 26 (Sat) to September 22 (Fri), 2023. In recent years Hashizume has exhibited his work to increasing acclaim in Tokyo, as well as Taipei, Seoul, Shanghai, and other major Asian cities.
eyewater animal is perhaps Hashizume’s most well-known series, garnering attention at each exhibition location. This series, which the artist has intensively developed over the years, features tearful figures cradling a variety of different animals. In particular, the artist’s own beloved cats, Morokoshi and Corn, make frequent appearances in this work. To my dearest friends, however, will focus on new work depicting both cats, and serves as an expression of Hashizume’s recent artistic concerns. In addition, Hashizume will be presenting a new series of paintings entitled explorer in which the artist uses his own figure as a model for themes which have attracted his strong interest of late.
